It occurred to me later that we could have gone with Gears Of War: 4 The Watch. I like that a lot. But I can't think about all that, now. I can only think about how I'm going to saw Gabriel and his misfit army into CORDWOOD. Here are the tools I will use to bring about that scenario:
That Hogwarts
Networks are one of the new features in Titanfall 2; like an IRC channel that has become frighteningly aware, it's something I can see coloring a lot of my experience with the game. Naming conventions have historically been a source of raw comicium in the past, and it's no different today.
PAX Dev Tickets And Infoburst
PAX Dev still has tickets available, so come get 'em. August 31st and September 1st, come learn from and with industry peers at the Westin. Learn what, you may ask? We have a full schedule available for your perusal. Suffice it to say: good stuff.
Titanfail
There's more story in the Tutorial of Titanfall 2 than there was in Titanfall, and I love the personality they've brought to the bots themselves. I really liked the Titanfall 2 test as a generality; I also liked Tribes 2, and Gabriel and I were the only ones. I suspect that it was a pretty rough weekend over at Respawn.
Thornwatch on BoardGameGeek
Thornwatch is so close to finally becoming a real thing. It’s coming together so fast now that it has literally been improving every day for the last couple weeks. We took a prototype to Gencon a few weeks ago and while we were there we sat down and played the game with folks from BoardGameGeek. If you have not had the chance to see Thornwatch at a PAX, this is a really good look at the game:
Rocket League Got Some PA Goodies!
PAX is just around the corner and the folks over at Rocket League have added some cool Penny Arcade/PAX items to their game!
Gears of War 4 the watch!
I haven't had the watch long but it's already time to defend my title. I plan on practicing by trying to cut Jerry in half with a real chainsaw.
Party In The Front
I will buy Deus Ex and play it as soon as I get five fucking minutes to rub together. I've been spinning fucking gold over here on Google Docs and when I say fucking gold I mean bronze at best or even tin but weirdly enough it all takes the same amount of time to make. Even with that being firmly established, there are a couple things I know about the new one just because I'm a fan.
Sample Size
Mei got buffed to a gleam in a recent patch, and we made a comic that establishes the contours of my opinion on the matter. I enunciated the same position online, and I got tooken to school on Tweetzor, because my nub was showing and I had to L2P.
PINS!
PARTNER PINS
Gears Of War 4: FOR THE WATCH
Gabriel is the Satan of this age, an electronic devil, and he stole victory from me before because he is a liar and a cheater and I hate him. But that is IN THE PAST. Because the next time we battle For The Watch, the field is Gears of War - a game I take very, very seriously. The highlight reel is just going to be me grinding through his torso with the chainsaw gun over and over. The Chainsaw Gun is called a Lancer, by the way. That's how you know I'm for fucking real.
Dialogue
I'm a little surprised that, after like eighteen years of this shit, I never named a strip "Dialogue."
Infinite And Infinitesimal
I think that I understand absolutely every position on No Man's Sky, regardless of what my avatar might have related in the strip. I said that it was a personality test, but I didn't say exactly what I meant by that.
See Acquisitions Incorporated in Theaters!
Wizards of the Coast wanted to put this year's AcqInc game out into theaters, which is pretty wild to think about. I have tried to imagine explaining this to a younger version of myself: you will play Dungeons & Dragons, which is the Devil's Game, with your friends - and it will be beamed across the nation. Right? I want to see how this goes. There's even some bonus content at the beginning for theaters, plus you get a really solid Acquisitions Incorporated adventure to take home and play with your own group that's tied into the campaign.
Club PA Comic Preview
Here's a tender morsel of the strip I'm sending out with the newsletter tomorrow:
Mistburn
Groban was essentially leaking Gen Con tales for a week when he came back, or sweating them maybe; they beaded on his irregular surface. One of them was about an encounter with Margaret Weis. I should say that he had an encounter, perhaps. Judging from the particulars of his account, it's entirely possible that Margaret Weis - who must be considered fantasy royalty - had no perceptible encounter of any kind.
